OxyContin Deaths Skrocket Part 1 of 3

Oxycodon deaths rose five fold in Otntario Canada after OxyContin -the brand name of a popular version of the pain killer – was introduced to thr public drug plan, a study has found.  Most of the death wereaccidental, almost two-thirds of patientshad seen a doctor within a month of their deaths and nearly all combined the drug with alcohol,sleeping npills or antidepressants, according to the study after oxycontin was added to the plan in 2000, oxycodone deaths in Ontario rose from1.39 per million residents annually in 1999 to 7.17 per million residents in 2004.
